Stephan's Finance Story

I entered the profession of Financial Advising after a variety of life experiences created a desire to learn more about personal finance. As I worked and traveled, I spent a lot of time contemplating how to manage my family’s finances and ensure my investments were aligned with my ethical principles and love of animals. However, even when seeking advice, I realized that those around me also had little knowledge or understanding on many financial topics.  This reality created a new-found passion for educating myself and others on the topics of standard investments, Socially Responsible Investing (SRI), and financial planning.

I began my career in financial planning in early 2000.  In 2009, I started my own firm, IFB Wealth Management, in order to be an independent financial advisor.  I am currently a partner at KMF Advisors where I manage the branch office in West Des Moines, IA.

I take tremendous pride in focusing on understanding the wants and needs of my clients in order to provide education and guidance through the complexity of personal finance. I am passionate about Socially Responsible Investing. I have earned a certificate of completion through the Center for Sustainable Investment Education in their Fundamentals of Sustainable and Impact Investment course so I can continue to keep up to date on current strategies and issues as they relate to socially responsible and sustainable investing. I also became the first advisor in the United States to earn the new Chartered SRI Counselor (CSRIC) designation through the College for Financial Planning.

Uniquely, my clients live all across the United States.  Therefore, I hold the Series 7 and 66 securities registrations, and I am registered in several states: FL, IA, IN, KY, MA, ME, NC, NH, OH.

My wife Amber and I keep busy with our son and daughter and our two energetic dogs. We enjoy being outdoors hiking, foraging, and cooking.
